It's been a while, and I haven't posted any of my current works... and in pops into my head of course of an issue of copyright. I, as an artist and a programmer, understand the need for accreditation and the protection of one's own works. I simply love what licenses like GPL and CC have allowed us to do.

However since the hackyness of my artwork, I cut and pasted many parts of svgs to create many of my custom interface icons to plug holes where Tango is still missing. This has some legal implications if I ever choose to distribute them, so I am going through and reworking all the images from scratch that do not comply with the CC v3 share and share alike. Many of the images I used were from gnome, which are licensed under the GPL. The GPL is fine and dandy, but not really for software. For each image I would post, I would additionally have to distribute a copy of the gpl, and one can see how this becomes burdensome. And many of the tango meta files listed CC v2 as the meta file, but after downloading from the CVS library, almost all of them are now under Public domain. I have no clue what this implies if I wish to use them as a base for my work under CC v3, and haven't gotten around to it. I assume since it's public domain that I can do what I wish with the files, even without accreditation, but something about that to me just doesn't seem right.
